Organization to me starts with the inside of our mind. A messy mind will always manifest a messy
environment.
Most of my clients are looking to become more organized. Because of too much access to
information these days, humans have lost the true art of staying organized.
Below are some things I've done to get and stay organized:
Get intentional
Get intentional about getting and staying organized. Having 1-million tabs open, papers scattered
all over your desk and a 20 titled to-do list is recipe for disaster.
Do yourself a favor by opening one tab at a time, monitoring the organization of your desk,
and telling your brain we're only going to do tasks that increase sales and service.
Plan in 15-minute increments
I use my google calendar for everything. I plan my day in 15-minute increments.
This helps me stay efficient. When I am efficient I feel organized and therefore I become
organized. I am always asking myself "Is what I'm doing the best use of my time right now?"
Use this principle and your lack of organization will magically disappear.
Delegate
Understand you can't or won't do it all on your own. Those who do are those who fail.
As business owners, it is important that we reach out to the experts to expedite our results,
save ourselves time, and minimize our stress. Experts, outside of us,
come in many forms -- consultants like me, contractors, employees, staff -- you name it.
The reason most business owners don't have anytime is because they are doing it all on their own.
I use my money to buy my time back. This is how smart people think.
Control is really about letting people do what you should no longer be doing while having them
report back to you.
Hate clutter
I hate clutter. It find it absolutely disgusting. Once every 3-months or so I raid my house throwing
away or donating all items that's become completely useless or no longer adds value to me or my
companies. Those who are intentional about staying organized are those who are more successful
in business. Just think, you have never seen an unorganized person operating a 7-figure business.
Hint -- if you are looking to take your business from 6 to 7 figures you need to get more
organized.
